Comic book geeks ahead of their time. Once an aspiring young comic book artist, now I'm a quality engineer in a large factory. However I am still a geek at heart and have been for most of my life. Today geek culture has become mainstream, thanks mostly to the internet and movies. However I was a "geek" before it was "cool" to be one. I was reading comic books back in the 1980's, long before any of the movie adaptations of the last 11 years. My friends and I were ahead of our time and didn't even know it. When the new trend in comic book movies started in 2000 with the X-Men, my friends and I said it is about time Hollywood caught on and started making GOOD superhero movies. Unfortunately the current comic book popularity subsists mostly in its movies, animated series, and toy merchandise. Most people still don't have an appreciation for the written page and artwork of the actual comic book or graphic novel. So I always appreciate meeting new people who share an interest in what still seems to be classified as a "subculture".
